Soccer and Innovation

Two of my favorite things in one place. It had to get a post. There are so many incredible innovations happening surrounding people's needs for food, water, and energy. This is just one of the many that I have seen recently. Our middle school science curriculum focuses heavy on getting our students engaged with those three global issues: food, water, and energy. We want our students to be next generation of problem solvers surrounding these issues around the world. We believe that giving kids big, hairy real-world problems and allowing them to be creativity and innovate is the best hope that we have for the complex problems that we face. Are you challenge your students like this? Will your kids create the next soccer ball that charges the computers of those living on $1 or less a day? If not, why not? There is no time to left to think any smaller.
